Mission

Lord, help me to make time today to serve you in those who are most in need of encouragement or assistance.

St. Vincent de Paul

SVdP Society is an international Catholic lay organization, founded in Paris, France in 1833 by Frédéric Ozanam and his friends, who were haunted by the misery of the poor. They dreamt of promoting harmony among the social classes. Ozanam, a university student, made a pact with his friends "to help the poor materially, and, after a certain time, perhaps help them to return to the practice of religion." Under the patronage of Saint Vincent de Paul, the Society draws its inspiration from his thoughts and his works.

The members of SVdP, called Vincentians, witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice. Vincentians see the face of Christ in everyone they serve. For an overview of the activities of SVdP throughout the U.S., please visit www.svdpusa.org.
